Review
With fewer A List stars than the majority of films that Pixar and DreamWorks produced, Ice Age still managed to become a huge hit and after its surprise success a sequel was inevitable, and lo and behold here it is.

Ice Age 2 has a basic ‘journey’ premise at its core, as with the first but in this film the peril and danger is much more. The three unlikely friends, Manny (Mammoth), Diego (Sabre Tooth Tiger) and Sid (Sloth) must escape their valley due to the Ice Age is drawing to a close and the valley they live in will soon be flooded.

The film doesn’t really offer anything new story wise, there are some good jokes and Scrat (that little pesky critter who was always trying to get the acorn) has a larger part creating most of the laughs. The only issue being for those eager people who searched out trailers and teasers for they will have already seen the majority of Scrat’s part. The biggest laugh, however, comes from the Vultures, but I'm not going to spoil that here...

What is most admiral about the film are the graphics where the quality of the film easily equals that of anything produced by CGI-cartoon giants Pixar. ‘Visually stunning’ is a term that will be applied by many reviewers, and rightly so.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a nice, easy, digestible film where there is something in it for both children and adults; and even some things that aren’t for the children; recommended.
